Citizenship issues are taught as part of the Religious Studies curriculum with assemblies and related events used to extend Citizenship learning. GCSE students follow the AQA Religious Studies B Philosophy and Morality syllabus.
To develop and apply knowledge and understanding about becoming informed citizens through the development of skills of enquiry, communication, participation and responsible action.
To explore local, national and global issues, problems and events of current interest.
To critically evaluate participation within school and in local community activities.
To encourage an interest in topical and controversial issues to engage students in discussions and debates.
To learn about rights, responsibilities, the law, justice, duties, democracy and freedoms as a citizen of Great Britain.
