Citizenship

Citizenship issues are taught as part of the Religious Studies curriculum with assemblies and related events used to extend Citizenship learning.  GCSE students follow the AQA Religious Studies B Philosophy and Morality syllabus.

 

 

Aims

  • To develop and apply knowledge and understanding about becoming informed citizens through the development of skills of enquiry, communication, participation and responsible action.
  • To explore local, national and global issues, problems and events of current interest.
  • To critically evaluate participation within school and in local community activities.
  • To encourage an interest in topical and controversial issues to engage students in discussions and debates.
  • To learn about rights, responsibilities, the law, justice, duties, democracy and freedoms as a citizen of Great Britain.
