Latest Letter from the Headteacher - Virtual School Plans
Following the announcement on Thursday by the Government, Churchmead school site will be closed from Monday 23rd March. We will continue as a virtual school with students having direct access to their teachers via our school email system. Plenty of work has been set and it is my expectation that students complete their work. Staff are available to support during normal school hours via email and “Microsoft Teams.”
If for any reason you are unable to access the email service then work has been provided and sent home with students, also extra work is available on our school website for parents to access.
We have contacted all parents who have responded as key workers to our information request and provided them with how provision will continue for their children. This is under constant review. We have also contacted all parents of students with EHC plans to set out their provision.
We will be providing all parents with the email addresses of all staff. Please contact the relevant staff member from the list if you have a query or question. We will also be running a reception facility during office hours if for any reason you need to contact the school. Our receptionist will take down your details and then forward your concern on to the relevant member of staff who will get back to you. The telephone number is the normal contact number 01753 211330.
Please can I ask that if possible, would you email the relevant member of staff in the first instance.
Year 11 and GCSE exams
We have spoken to Year 11 students this morning about the GCSE exams not taking place this year. It is important that the students continue with classwork and coursework to the best of their ability. This would form an evidence base to support the allocation of grades as well as prepare the students for their sixth form studies. I have no further information on this at time of writing. I will update parents on the full details of this once we have been informed by the exam boards on the way forward.
Thank you for your continued support through these challenging times. To summarise, school will continue to operate as a virtual school and staff are available to support your son or daughter’s learning through the systems we have set up.
If you have any concerns please contact the school using the contact arrangements we have set out.
