Churchmead Celebrates GCSE Results
Churchmead School is today celebrating their best ever set of GCSE results in a number of areas. The school maintains outstanding results in the new English GCSE with 75% of students achieving grades 9-4 and 48% achieving grades 9-5. Humanities subjects continue to flourish with 90% of students achieving a grade 4+ in French with 60% attaining a grade 5+, whilst 70% of students taking Geography gained grades 9-4. Churchmead School takes exceptional pride in the artistic talents of their students, which shone through in the Art and Photography results, where students achieved 75% 9-4 and 77% 9-4 respectively.
Commenting on the results Chris Tomes, Headteacher said “I would like to congratulate our students. I wish them well as they begin their sixth form studies. I would also like to thank their teachers and parents for the commitment they have shown in achieving these impressive results.”
Special mention must go to the following students: Harvey Portsmouth on achieving 2 grade 9’s, 4 grade 8’s, 1 A, 4 grade 7’s and 1 Distinction*, Caitie Holden MacDonald on achieving 3 grade 9’s, 1 grade 8 and 4 grade 7’s and Chloe Buckeridge on achieving 3 grade 8’s, 1 Distinction* and 4 grade 7’s.
Headboy, Gurjot Matharoo said on receiving his results “I am delighted with my results and I would like to thank Churchmead School for being such a fanastic school in supporting me in my studies.” Caitie added “Thank you to all my teachers who have played a huge part in my results.”
