Letter from the Headteacher
Welcome to the Summer Term. I hope that you and your family are all well. Our online provision is up and running and we will be continuing to operate as a virtual school with students having direct access to their teachers via email and “Microsoft Teams”. If you are concerned about accessing online learning, we are able provide work packs for students. Please contact the school to request the packs by calling main reception or sending an email.
Following on from the news about GCSE exams not taking place, I would like to encourage Year 11 students to think about their future sixth form studies. It is important that students use this time to prepare for their A level and BTEC courses they have applied for. We are providing guidance to support this transition. Often there is a big leap from GCSE to A level and we want to ensure our students have the very best start to their new school or college place.
The Government announced on Sunday that provision for Year 10 is a priority. It is important that we do all we can to support the Year 10 students in their GCSE and BTEC courses and to ensure students are making good progress in their learning. The first round of Pre-Public Exams will be taking place in November. These will be the results that are requested by schools and colleges when applying for sixth form courses. On our school website there are links to careers advice to help guide students and parents as you consider the next stage of education.
Years 7 to 9
Please continue to access lessons through our system. Students can ask for help and guidance in their work, from their teachers. The system we have set up is working well to respond to any questions you have about your learning. It is important that students keep up to date with their studies.
I would like to thank you for your continued support at this time. We look with hope to the time when we will be able to return to the school site.
If you have any concerns please contact the school using the contact arrangements we have set out.
Mr Chris Tomes
