Churchmead School continues to achieve impressive results with GCSE grades this year. The school is celebrating outstanding results in the new English GCSE with 74% of students achieving at least a grade 4 and 59% achieving a grade 5 and above. Seven students achieved the prestigious grade 9.
54% of students achieved at least a grade 4 in English and Maths.
Commenting on the results Chris Tomes, Headteacher at Churchmead School said
“I would like to congratulate our students on achieving fantastic results. I wish them well as they move onto their sixth form studies many of whom have secured places at our new sixth form or at grammar school. I would also like to thank their teachers and parents for the commitment they have shown in achieving these impressive results.”
Special mention must go to the following students: Agyapomaa Boateng on achieving 2 grade 9’s, 3 A* and 5 A grades; Heral Raval on achieving 2 grade 9’s a grade 7, 2 A* grades and 6 A grades and
Joshua Buckeridge, Headboy, on achieving grade 8, grade 7, 2 A* and 5 A grades.
Agyapomaa said on receiving her results “I am delighted with my results and I would like to thank Churchmead School for being such a fantastic school in supporting me in my studies.”
Heral added “Thank you to all my teachers who have played a huge part in my results”
This is the first year of the new GCSE grades 9-1 in English and Maths. Next year we will see the majority of subjects moving over to the new grading system and we look forward to celebrating again an outstanding set of results.
