Churchmead Celebrates GCSE Results

Churchmead School continues to achieve impressive results with GCSE grades this year. The school is celebrating maintaining outstanding results in the new English GCSE with 72% of students achieving grades 9-4 and 51% achieving grades 9-5. 36 prestigious grades 8 and 9 were achieved across various subjects in the school, by 14 different students. 60% of students achieved 5 or more grades 9-4 in their GCSE’s.

Commenting on the results Chris Tomes, Headteacher at Churchmead School said “I would like to congratulate our students on achieving fantastic results. I wish them well as they move onto their sixth form studies. I would also like to thank their teachers and parents for the commitment they have shown in achieving these impressive results.”

Special mention must go to the following students: Aytal Ijaz on achieving 4 grade 9’s, 2 grade 8’s, 2 A* and 3 grade 7’s; Jessie Padda on achieving 2 grade 9’s, 2 grade 8’s, 1 A* grade and 4 grade 7’s and Sam Chee on achieving one grade 9, three grade 8’s, 1 A* and 2 grade 7’s.

Headboy, Max Lewandowski said on receiving his results “I am delighted with my results and I would like to thank Churchmead School for being such a fantastic school in supporting me in my studies.” Aytal added “Thank you to all my teachers who have played a huge part in my results”

This is the first year of the new GCSE grades 9-1 in subjects other than English and Maths. We look forward to celebrating again an outstanding set of results next year as the new GCSE framework becomes even more embedded in the school.
